Thunderbird's OpenPGP

Somehow prolonging the expiration date of my GPG key does not work within Thunderbird's new integrated OpenPGP implementation. It does not warn about a “complex structure” either, though.

No biggie, they're working on it -- so for now:

  1. Export key from Thunderbird
  2. Run gpg to change expiration date, or use a nice GUI like GNOME Seahorse
  3. Export key from GPG
  4. Re-import key in Thunderbird

Also, as I'm using (or used) the same key for other purposes -- think of pass or other other mail clients -- I maintain the keys in GPG itself nevertheless. So it seems, that Thunderbird's OpenPGP support is meant for the “casual user” (is that an okay term?). If it helps to spread encrypted/signed emails the awareness of it -- great!
